ISO 27001 certified security
You can’t compromise when it comes to school-level security. Independent audits confirm that our security goes far beyond what most schools, districts and states have been able to achieve on their own. Using the latest firewall protection, intrusion-detection systems, and SSL encryption, Skoodat gives you the peace of mind only a world-class security infrastructure can provide. Third-party certifications of our infrastructure include ISO 27001, the SysTrust audit (the recognized standard for system security), and SysTrust SAS 70 Type II (an attestation for internal corporate controls).

To ensure maximum uptime and continuous availability, Force.com provides redundant data protection and the most advanced facilities protection available, along with a complete data recovery plan.

You need fast access to your data. The Force.com query optimizer delivers under 300ms response time for Skoodat apps, at a massive scale. How do we deliver such performance? Not by throwing massive amounts of hardware at the problem. It’s by developing the right design: one massively shared system that makes it possible for schools to create, read, update, delete, and search on billions of rows of data with sub-second response time.

You can share student, organization, grade, class, assignment or custom object records with any schools or organizations that also use Skoodat or Force.com and get real-time updates on the shared data.
Three global data centers
Three state-of-the-art data centers feature carrier-class bandwidth and the latest infrastructure already configured to serve 1.5+ million subscribers. The facilities are linked through a dedicated OC-48 backbone, providing real-time failover and point-to-multipoint replication as well as disk-to-disk-to-tape backups. They include biometric scanning, “lights out”/opaque cages, video and infrared surveillance, intrusion-detection scanning and security audits.
Disaster recovery
Skoodat leverages Force.com’s geographically dispersed, mirrored data centers with built-in replication, disaster recovery, a redundant network backbone, and no single points of failure. Disaster recovery plans are in place with a backup policy that includes:
- All networking components, SSL accelerators, load balancers, Web servers, and application servers are configured in a redundant configuration.
- All student and school data is stored on a primary database server that is clustered with a backup database server for redundancy.
- All student and school data is stored on disk storage that is mirrored across different storage cabinets and controllers.
- All student and school data, up to the last committed transaction, is automatically backed up to a primary tape library on a nightly basis.
- Backup tapes are immediately cloned to a second tape library to verify their integrity, and the clones are moved to secure, fire-resistant, off-site storage on a regular basis.
