Why we collect personal information and how we use it.
When you use Skoodat services, we collect and use information that personally identifies you to provide you with access to our services, our people, and to superior customer support. We collect information about you in several ways, with the purpose of operating our Web sites and providing services that you have requested or authorized. For example, we might ask for your contact information when you express interest in a service. We may request your email address to provide you with important information about the service you have purchased. We may also collect information about the pages you visit on our Web site to help us improve the site, analyze trends and maintain the site. We merge site-visitation data with anonymous demographic information for research purposes. We may also use your personal information to contact you to participate in a market research survey, so that we can gauge customer satisfaction and develop better products.
Session-based cookies exist only during one session. They disappear from your computer when you close your browser software or turn off your computer. If you have chosen to identify yourself to Skoodat, we use session cookies containing encrypted information to uniquely identify you. Each time you log into a Skoodat service, a session cookie containing an encrypted, unique identifier that is tied to your account is placed on your browser. These session cookies allow Skoodat to uniquely identify you when you are logged into our services and to process your online transactions and requests. Session cookies are required to use Skoodat services.
Persistent-based cookies remain on your computer after you close your browser or turn off your computer. Skoodat uses persistent cookies that only we can read and use to identify browsers that have previously visited our Web sites. When you purchase services or provide us with personal information, a unique identifier is assigned you. This unique identifier is associated with a persistent cookie that Skoodat places on your Web browser. Skoodat is especially careful about the security and confidentiality of the information stored in persistent cookies. For example, Skoodat does not store account numbers or passwords in persistent cookies. If you disable your Web browser's ability to accept cookies, you will be able to navigate the Skoodat Web sites, but you will not be able to successfully use our services.
Skoodat may use information from session and persistent cookies in combination with data about our customers to provide you with information about our company and services.
Web beacons may be used alone or in conjunction with cookies to compile information about customers and visitors' usage of Skoodat Web sites and interaction with emails from our company.Web beacons are clear electronic images that can recognize certain types of information on your computer, such as cookies, when you viewed a particular Web site tied to the Web beacon, and a description of a Web site tied to the Web beacon. For example, Skoodat may place Web beacons in marketing emails that notify the us when you click on a link in the email that directs you to one of Skoodat's Web sites. Skoodat uses Web beacons to operate and improve our Web sites and email communications.
When you opt-in (sign up) for a newsletter or agree to receive email, we may use a "click-through URL" to track links that you click. We may associate that data with your personal information to provide you more focused email communications. Skoodat email communications include an unsubscribe link allowing you to stop delivery of that type of communication at any time. Skoodat may use information from Web beacons in combination with customer data to provide you with information about Skoodat and our services.
Skoodat also uses local shared objects, also known as Flash cookies, to store your preferences or display content based upon what you view on our site to personalize your visit. Third parties, with whom Skoodat may partner to provide certain features on our sites or to display advertising based upon your Web browsing activity, use Flash cookies to collect and store information. Flash cookies are different from browser cookies because of the amount of, type of, and how data is stored. Cookie management tools provided by your browser will not remove Flash cookies.

Security is our top concern.
Skoodat uses robust security measures to protect customer data from unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and help ensure the appropriate use of customer data. When Skoodat services are accessed using Internet Explorer version 6.0 or later, Firefox version 2.0 or later, or Safari version 3.0 or later, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology protects customer data using both server authentication and data encryption. These technologies help ensure that customer data is safe, secure, and only available to the customer to whom the information belongs and those to whom the customer has granted access.
Skoodat also implements an advanced security method based on dynamic data and encoded session identifications, and Skoodat hosts its Web sites in a secure server environment that uses firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other advanced technology to prevent interference or access from outside intruders. Skoodat also offers enhanced security features within our services that permit customers to configure security settings to the level they deem necessary. Customers are responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of their Skoodat usernames and passwords.
Because Skoodat uses our own services to maintain data about Skoodat customers, this information is secured in the same manner as described above for customer data.
For more about security, please visit the Security page on the Skoodat Web site.
